Boost Your Happiness! Use these 3 Steps Daily.
Your happiness and overall mental health and well-being can impact how productive your days are. Everyone has bad days, whether it's stressful deadlines at work, school, or conflict with someone close to you. They've happened to all of us and I promise they won't stop! It's out of our control, but our daily habits aren't. A habit is a practice that becomes a tendency, like brushing your teeth or making your bed in the morning. Healthy habits can make a positive impact on your productivity, so why not try starting some to keep our mental health in check? Journaling is helpful, but it can be hard to keep up with. Luckily, there are easier ways! I find that a little spoon of gratitude can help your mindset.
1. Start the day with gratitude.
I was raised with a parent who never stopped reminding my siblings and me how fortunate we are to have a home with electricity, fresh food, a car, clothes, etc. Remind yourself in the morning how lucky you are to have all of the wants you see in your home, extra things that other people don't have. From education to running water, Americans are truly spoiled! Yes, your life might be chaotic, and things may get stressful, but we are so rich; and blind to it.
2. Help others.
Try to take the focus off yourself for a second; help someone else today. It doesn't have to be something big- and you don't need to go tell everyone what you did. It could be paying for someone's groceries if you have the means to, or just complimenting someone, grab the door for the person behind you on your way to work! If you practice religion, you could pray for the person who cut you off on the road instead of honking at them! Stay positive :)
3. End the day with gratitude.
As I mentioned previously, gratitude is impactful. Before you go to bed, practice some gratitude whether that be reading the Bible, or just naming something you're grateful for at the dinner table. Focus on something that impacted you in a positive way, instead of stressing about everything else on your plate.
That's all for today, stay tuned for the Burnt Toast Theory!
